Image Formats

Vector vs. Pixel

Logo graphics are available in SVG(Scaleable Vector Graphics) format. Vector graphics are infinitely resizeable without losing image quality. Your logo can shrink to be smaller than a pencil eraser or enlarged to larger than a billboard; with curves that are smooth and without any unwanted boxiness or pixelization. Vector graphics are sometimes considered a little more simple and more cartoony, all the image information is stored as equations for the shapes and curves. This format is excellent for print, or for images that need to be in a large range of sizes.

Pixel artwork is completely different. The image information is stored block by block. These images can only safely be sized smaller, and there still is a loss in image quality, sizing pictures larger creates blocky curves. Pixel artwork is excellent for more realistic pictures (in high resolution), pixel precise images in certain formats, or low resoltion web images. Pixel work is available in many formats but the most popular are PNG, GIF and JPG format.

Pricing

Prices for images start at $15. The final price may vary depending on size and complexity of the project, but most web images 1000px by 200px or smaller will be less than $40. My rates are really reasonable, tell me what you would like made and you could be pleasantly surprised.

To design an image with minimal problem, add as much information to the order form as possible. If you have a current image in mind, the web address would be helpful. Point out things you like and dislike about it. The most helpful thing is a sketch of your idea. MS Paint is free on Windows (check the Start menu >> Programs >> Paint). Sketch your idea, it doesn't have to be perfect or to scale. Save as .jpg or .png. If you include images in the email make sure to add "Custom Graphic Design # images attached" to the subject line.

I'll look over the order information, and send an estimate for the cost of the order. When we agree, I will send an invoice for 50% of the total cost. Once the deposit is received, work will begin on your custom image. I'll send frequent updates on the progress. When the design is complete and we are both satisfied the second invoice will be sent out. When the final payment is received, you will get your special delivery. And a link to your site will be added to this site, unless you request otherwise.
